Distracted Driving Awareness

Many distractions exist while driving, but cell phones are a top distraction because so many drivers use them for long periods of time each day. Almost everyone has seen a driver distracted by a cell phone, but when you are the one distracted, you often don’t realize that driver is you.
On a typical day, more than 700 people are injured in distracted driving crashes. Talking on a cell phone – even hands-free – and texting divert your attention away from driving.

Terminix is committed to getting every employee home safely each day. By eliminating distracted driving, it helps them achieve that goal – and demonstrates the role companies can play in making our roads safer.

An October 2020 survey by the NSC and TRUCE found we continue to accept crashes and near-misses as the cost of connectivity.

83%

of drivers say they’ve seen people distracted by technology while driving

61%

of drivers say it would take being involved in an accident to dissuade them from using their phone while driving

56%

of drivers think employer cell phone policies would deter others from using phones while driving

46%

of drivers say demands/pressure from work cause them to use their phones while driving

31%

of drivers are very willing to drive without their cell phone
