Gartner® Research | How to ‘COPE’ With BYOD in 2022
“Many organizations have considered BYOD programs based on the expectation that it would be less expensive than providing employees with a corporate-owned device and, where applicable, a mobile voice and data subscription. But BYOD is not a good fit for every organization. Support costs, especially when factoring in peer support and self-help, can significantly inflate the total cost of most BYOD programs. Also, BYOD can be difficult to deploy and can introduce security risks.”¹
This Gartner report suggests technology leaders responsible for end-user computing must:
- Provide clear guidance around eligibility for employees to participate based on business requirements.
- Set realistic expectations for the BYOD program.
- Select and support the corporate and BYOD programs that make the most sense for the organization.
